I'm Only Happy When It Rains

(Not really)

And not really when I have a half-marathon to run tomorrow.. And especially when it’s going to be chilly. It should be interesting for the Tom King Half though. I’m sure I’ll have fun and I’ll have a nice warm breakfast buffet to look forward to, but it would really have been nice if the weather could have been like last Saturday when i was in the 50s/60s for the early morning run.  And now I’m in a debate over whether to get my mp3 player ready.. will it be raining hard enough to affect it? can I cover it in plastic wrap? Hmm.. It would be nice to have it because some of the stretches on the course aren’t very exciting.

Now, to figure out what to wear.. I have a bright orange new racing shirt, so M can be sure to spot me.. but I’ll have to layer under that as it is short sleeved. And shorts? Pants? Hmm.

The good things about tomorrow’s race is that I’m sure to PR.. since this is my first half.

Back for 2009!

My running blog is back for 2009! It took me a while to stop being lazy and finally start again, but I’m finally starting. I’ve been contemplating some changes for the blog to help myself in the design field and include running as well. My first post goes back a month ago, when I started to get new running gear!

So here goes, new year, new gear:

First Off: Shoes

I’ve needed these baaaad, and finally I had some cash from Christmas to buy some. I’ve needed these even before my marathon, but didn’t want to switch shoes (since I won these and chose an expensive pair) and worry about adjusting to them before the marathon. I even got creative with an old flip-flop in holding them together when they were falling apart… We gone through a lot together. How bad were they? Take a look…

Old Running Shoes

And Finally, here are my sweet replacements, Asics GT2130! I finally got fit for running shoes at Fleet Feet and got this perfect shoe.. So far, so good.

My New Asics

Clothing: Other things I’ve needed, and I found a few things on the bargain rack at target.. total: under $10!

And Finally, a New Toy!

My wife got my one of the best presents ever, the Garmin Forerunner! She even planned to get me this before I started looking at them. It’s awesome to track my runs and have pace info and time right at my wrist. Mapping all of my runs is fun also! It definitely has helped with keeping up the running.

I’ve put the Garmin to good use so far, including my RACE on Saturday. I ran the Zoo Run Run and should have a race report soon!
